Features (Detail)
18 New Shaders
You'll find over eighteen new shader options that will make your textures pop! Plus, we've included three new analysis shaders that render models, not for presentation purposes, but to show information about the design.
A Library of Over 200 Pre-defined Textures
RenderWorks includes a library of over 200 pre-defined textures. New textures can be easily created from any image file or from one of RenderWorks' built-in shaders.
Anti-aliasing
Anti-aliasing smooths jagged edges. Your renderings will have sharp edges at any resolution, and will export or print clean, crisp edges.
Background Images
For even more realism, you can now add background images to your designs. Add clouds, color gradients, or even images taken from the Internet or with a digital camera to give your rendering an even more photorealistic look.
Bump
Bump allows you to edit how rough a texture appears. You can choose from several pre-configured bump shaders, such as dimple, knurl, tread plate, and rough.
Dynamic Texture Mapping
Interactively position, re-size, and rotate textures directly on the surface of 3D objects.
Easily Create Custom Textures
Easily create custom textures from such popular file formats as TIF, JPG, GIF and BMP. Additional images can be downloaded from the Internet, scanned from photographs, or captured directly from a digital camera. These images can then be added as textures to your designs.
Higher Quality OpenGL Rendering
Before version 11, you could only view shaders if you rendered in one of the RenderWorks rendering modes. However, with the new OpenGL technology in version 11, you can see shaders and render transparent objects like glass, crystal, and plastic directly in VectorWorks' interactive OpenGL rendering mode. In addition, RenderWorks users will enjoy the ability to display Image Props in OpenGL renderings.
Image Props
Any graphic image, such as plants, people, cars, and signs, can easily be made into an Image Prop, then placed into the scene to make it even more true-to-life. Image Props can be rotated and appear three-dimensional from all angles. Animations never looked so impressive before.
Improved Texture Creation Capabilities
New tools allow you to easily reuse images for multiple textures and create transparent texture masks from the original image. If the image contains a built-in alpha channel, RenderWorks can find and use it.
In-Document Texture Editing
New controls on the Object Info palette allow you to interactively edit textures applied to your 3D models. You can easily swap textures, duplicate them as well as control any shader effects. To save time the controls work on an object by object basis, so instead of having to re-render entire scenes, you only render the object you're editing. And, you can interactively adjust values, so you see and make changes on the fly.
New Artistic Rendering Effects
Have you ever wanted to produce soft, hand-drawn, or artistic renderings of your 3D designs? Now you can! A new Artistic rendering mode in RenderWorks 11 allowsyou to produce non-photorealistic effects that soften hard lines and mimic many hand-sketched styles, including cartoon, color wash, contour, tapered lines, hatch, ink print, lines and shadows, mosaic, oil painting, overlapping lines, soft lines, and stipple.
Over 370 New Textures
We consulted with RenderWorks experts to help develop new texture libraries, and the results are phenomenal! Inside, you'll find over 250 meticulously prepared textures tweaked to provide maximum realism. Plus, new monochromatic textures can take on the color of any object-meaning that a single texture pattern can have infinite variations.
Reflection
Reflection allows you to create textures that reflect light. Chrome, polished brass, and mirror are a few of the textures you can create that will reflect light.
Refraction
Refraction allows you to create textures that bend light. The glass shader will bend light appropriately, distorting objects that are beyond it.
Render Bitmap Tool
The Render Bitmap tool allows you to render small portions of your design to determine the effects of your settings, without having to render the image in its entirety. Or, you can render several views of your design, arranging them in a composition.
Render Bitmap Tool Improvements
The Render Bitmap tool now supports OpenGL, as well as RenderWorks' rendering modes: Fast RenderWorks, Fast RenderWorks with Shadows, Final Quality RenderWorks, Custom RenderWorks, and Artistic RenderWorks. Plus, captured images are always produced with true 32-bit color resolution, and are automatically compressed to reduce file sizes.Export Piranesi®With Renderworks 11, you can now export models directly to Piranesi.
Roofing Shaders
RenderWorks makes it easy to create an almost infinite variety of flat, rounded, diamond, hexagonal, corrugated, Spanish, and Roman roof tiles.
Streamlined Mapping Interface
It's a breeze to manipulate textures and increase productivity with a dramatically streamlined RenderWorks interface. A cleaner, more intelligent Mapping dialog box gives you much greater control over how textures map to 3D objects. And, the most common mapping and texture editing options can be quickly accessed via a new Render tab on the Object Info palette. Changes made through the Object Info palette are seen in real time. RenderWorks 11 is a must-have for anyone creating 3D renderings!
Support for Batch Rendering
Tired of waiting for your computer to finish rendering, when you need to be designing? Now, rendering jobs can be queued and scheduled to run during off-peak hours.
Support for Multiprocessors
Support for multithreading means that raytraced renderings on dual-processor machines will be up to 40% faster.
Support for QuickTime VR®
Both the Macintosh® and Windows® version of RenderWorks 11 support Apple's QuickTime Virtual Reality technology. QuickTime VR adds another dimension to your presentation capabilities by allowing you to create realistic 3D panoramas from your models that can be navigated without any special hardware or software. And, because QTVR is automatically web-enabled, you can easily post your QTVR scenes to your website.
Weather Effects
Have you ever designed a ski lodge on the side of a mountain and wondered what it would look like during a snowstorm? Now, with new weather effects in RenderWorks, you don't have to wonder anymore. Weather such as snow, fog, and ground fog can be added to your scenes for a more dramatic effect.
