Features (Detail)
"Intelligent" Object Technology
Intelligent object technology takes your designs to the next level. LANDMARK's objects look and behave like the real-world components they represent. You can easily modify your site model with roads, pads, and retaining walls. LANDMARK ships with access to hundreds of 'intelligent' objects and symbols free! There's no need to buy separate object libraries or symbol libraries. Everything you need, from plants to gravel, is just a mouse click away.
Advanced Site Modelling & Analysis
Creating grading plans and performing cut and fill calculations are no longer a hassle. LANDMARK's powerful site sculpting tools make these tasks easy. With just a few clicks of your mouse, LANDMARK lets you study a site's slope, elevations, and zone of visual influence, perform shadow studies, and create solar animations.
AutoCAD® 2004 Support and ACIS Solids Import/Export
AutoCAD 2004 compatibility, support for AutoCAD viewports and paperspace, batch DXF/DWG translation, DXF/DWG 3D Solids Support, Import/Export ACIS/SAT are just a few of the new and improved Import/Export options you'll find in LANDMARK 11.
Batch Print
Forget about waiting at your desk to print a set of drawings. With the new Batch Print command, you can print a complete set of drawings without any interruptions. The new Batch Print command allows you to easily define a set of drawing sheets or saved views to print. You can choose to print sheets in either black and white or color. And, you can save Batch Print sets for easy retrieval.
Better Text Tools
With LANDMARK's new notes databases you can now easily create, store, and manage your notes right in VectorWorks. A new General Notes tool makes it easy to place perfectly formatted general notes from your General Notes database. And, a new Callout tool allows you to precisely place Callouts or Keynotes from your Callout Database.Plus, you can automatically reconcile the notes that are in the database with the notes in the drawing-assuring that the text you place on the drawing is correct. This is great when working in a multi-user environment where teams of designers are sharing the same notes database.
Completely Customizable
Easily customize your workspaces by configuring new tool palettes and menu commands, deleting unused ones, or rearranging their order and location. You can also assign, modify or delete keyboard shortcuts for any palettes, tools and commands. Plus, a complete, self-contained development environment is built right in. It's simple enough to be used by a beginner, yet powerful enough for even the most experienced CAD programmer. You can create everything from simple scripts that automate routine drafting tasks, to full-blown commercial applications! It's all up to you.
DWG is Only the Beginning
A stable of import/export options, including DWG, IGES, STL, EPS, TIF and JPG, makes it easy to share files between popular desktop publishing, presentation, analysis, and other CAD programs.
Document Your Site With Minimal Fuss
With LANDMARK, you don't have to worry about documenting your sites. All you have to do is import survey data you've taken in the field, or from an existing DXF/DWG file, into a new document. LANDMARK's Site Modeling Suite will do the rest. Don't have the site information electronically? No problem! You can recreate a site from a scanned image, or use the grid entry method.
Enhanced Property Line Tool
We've improved the interface for entering property lines from a surveyor's description. The new Property Line dialog boxes are easier to understand and use. And, property line angles can be entered as either Azimuth or Bearing degrees.
Enhanced Site Modeling
We've streamlined the DTM interface, eliminating dialog boxes and reducing mouse clicks. We also included a new NURBS Roadway tool that allows you to simply sketch roads or paths onto the DTM. For easy editing, you can interactively reshape roadways using the 3D Reshape tool. And, an improved Site Model Section command gives you the ability to plot existing and proposed site sections with more control over how station points display, and new text formatting options so you can tweak the look of the plot. In addition, new controls allow you to precisely set the slope of the terrain between the control fence and a pad or a road, making it easy to create "batter slopes", or gradual transitions between the site and the site modifiers.
Faster, More Robust 3D Modelling
An enhanced 3D modeling kernel results in faster and more reliable solids modeling operations. Plus, you'll find new NURBS modeling tools that give you more control over complex 3D surfaces. And, a Volumetric Properties command that automatically calculates the volume, surface area, and center of mass of any 3D solid.
Hand Drawn Stipple Effects
A new Stipple tool allows you to add texture or shading to your 2D drawings. Controls include the range of density, fading from the edge, random rotation of the stipple shape, and color. Once set, you can save the stipple settings so they can be reused.
High-end Presentation
Not only does LANDMARK have all the tools you need to complete your project, it can even help you sell the job! Import scanned images or pictures into your design, create high-quality renderings with dramatic lighting effects, and make animated movies of your designs! Plus, by adding LANDMARK's advanced rendering plug-in, RenderWorks, you can map textures and add dramatic effects to give your presentations a photorealistic look.
Improved Plant Tool
A redesigned Place Plant tool makes placing plants quick and easy. When placing plants, you can now easily edit a plant's size, spacing, and placement options. Plus, to assure accurate placement, the tool previews plant locations so you can see the plant before it's placed. We've also added the ability to duplicate plant records in the plant database, to make editing and adding new plant records faster. And, we've add a new option in the Plant Styles command that gives plants a transparent look, allowing you to show walkways or other ground-level details below a plant's canopy. Plus, to give your drawings a looser, more hand-drawn look, plants placed in groups or clusters can be set to rotate randomly.
Integrating Information and Design
With built-in database and spreadsheet capabilities, you don't need a separate program to track your project's costs and materials-LANDMARK will do it for you. Information can be accessed at any time during the design process and can be used to generate reports. And, because the information and the drawings are linked, any changes to the design will automatically update your reports and schedules.
Issue Manager
Forget about the tedious process of issuing drawing sets. LANDMARK's Issue Manager will do it for you. It records when sets are released, who released them, and to whom they went. It also maintains a history of all drawings issued.
New Context-sensitive Help
Even the best CAD designers get stuck every now and then. With new context-sensitive help, you'll never have to stop and consult your manual again. Any question you may have can be easily answered from within VectorWorks' new help system. Loaded with detailed step-by-step instructions and comprehensive graphics, VectorWorks 11's help system is a faster and more convenient way to get answers to your questions.
New Hardscape Tool
A new Hardscape tool makes it easy to create patterned walkways and patios. Simply define an area or path, and then choose a pattern from the paving library or create your own custom pattern. Options let you add borders, colors, and even dynamically tag hardscape constructions with their area and perimeter values, so that the tag automatically updates as the hardscape area is changed.
Notes Management
LANDMARK helps you accurately and quickly annotate drawings. Draw curved or straight leaders, then automatically place pre-formatted note blocks from your General or Keynotes libraries. Word processing features make it easy to format text and even check spelling.
Place Plant Tool
Now there's a tool that makes placing plants a snap. Plants can be placed one at a time, in pairs, or at specific spacing intervals. Clustering options make it simple to create planting beds. Easily place plants at corner points, along the edge of lines, or in rectangular and triangular layouts. Plant beds can be automatically identified with the plant legend and quantity. Plus, if you need to substitute a plant, simply click on the plant that you want to change, and choose the replacement plant from your Plant Catalog.
Powerful Free-form 3D Modelling
Easily explore concepts, create massing models, as well as visualize final designs in 3D. A new Massing Model tool makes it easy to represent buildings in an urban setting. Plus, with LANDMARK's built-in 3D Power Pack, you'll get advanced free-form modeling functionality that previously could be found only in programs costing much more. To learn more about 3D Power Pack please visit this page.
Revolutionary Drawing Organization Features
New setup commands take the hassle out of setting up new projects. They can create all your drawing sheets complete with title blocks, plus automatically link your plans to your elevation and perspective views. These management commands make it easy to set up new layer naming standards, use the AIA / National CAD standards, or use your firm's existing CAD standards. For added flexibility, you can easily switch between the naming standards-great when working with subs or consultants.
Sophisticated 2D Drafting
LANDMARK makes drafting on the computer just as easy as drafting with pencil and paper. Plus, your CAD drawings don't have to look as dull and sterile as other CAD programs make them look. Unprecedented 2D graphics capabilities allow you to bring artistry back to drawing.
Viewports
Advanced page layout features make it easy to arrange multiple views of your design on a single drawing sheet. Each view of the design, or "viewport", can have its own scale, orientation, projection, and rendering option, as well as layer and class visibility settings-making it easy to create drawing sheets that are comprised of multiple views of your design. For added flexibility, viewports can be cropped by any shape and have the ability to be annotated separately, which makes creating detailed or enlarged plan views a very simple and straight-forward process.
Workgroup Referencing
It's easy to design in a team environment with LANDMARK. Team members can view the entire project, but make edits only within their individual area of responsibility. Then, final drawings are assembled by pulling together all of the component drawings from your team. How much easier can it get?
